We welcome this prop-100 for National ip address plan.
One obvious advantage I could foresee is from the aspect of traffic engineering. Today it is difficult for a service provider to segregate his traffic based on geographical regions. All the tier 1 service providers who provide Traffic Engineering communities, tag the routes from where they learn and not from the region where they are originated. Allocation of a country-wide ip address blocks can in fact facilitate region based TE communities.
Saying so ,it is also necessary to clearly define the allocation policy and guidelines for the NIR.

How would that work exactly? Can you work through an example for me? Assume I'm fairly familiar with TE concepts.

NIRs follow same allocation policy as other APNIC members. See previously posted links to APNIC website.
