Dear All,
We trust that everyone has been keeping well and safe despite this pandemic reverberating to our sunshine shores;
As we are all responsible for keeping the networks connected, fast and safe, likewise we also play responsible roles in teams, and in every personal capacity, to help fight the pandemic by following and promoting physical distancing, curfews from social gatherings and functions, washing hands, and other new health regulations and habits to combat the pandemic, at work places, with customers, friends and families.
Despite the impact, with many having their livelihoods affected from closure of businesses and loss of jobs, we have a lot of gratitude that this region was not hit hard, and having no one paying with their life from this pandemic. Let's help keep it that way.
PacNOG partners are happy to consider providing PacNOG sessions online during this period with restrictions on travel and physical gathering, to continue with the objectives to build capacity for this region, supporting training on special skills on internet networking and services
In this view, with the cancelled physical meeting of PacNOG 26 on 29 June, 2020, we wish to propose that the void is replaced with online sessions. The online PacNOG can be offered as follows
* Half day online conference for exchange and update on operational topics
* 1-2 days of online Tutorial - see below for selection of topics.
The format of the sessions will be finalised once we have a fair idea of the needs from the community with the trainers inputs. An ideal duration of sessions has been agreed by the trainers to be limited to 90minutes, followed by a substantial break - this is to be determined and hopefully we arrive at a model that works well for everyone.
On Dates, we propose as follows
* Half day conference on 30 June 2020; (Tuesday)
* 1-2 days online tutorials on 01-02 July, 2020.
On topics, this is proposed that we ask the community for
* their topics of priority needs.
* Or by default, carry on or supplement the tutorial topics with the PacNOG plans before the pandemic with its online versions, i.e. as follows
1. DNSSEC and DNS 2. IP Networking / Routing Security 3. Campus Network Design and Operations (extra)
Contents and Syllabus:-
These will be determined with the Trainers, and to be based on your needs and feedback as requested above, the more explanation received, the better for determining on these.
So, let us hear back from you on topics;
We can discuss more on the details of the online session when we have finalised a program, so the earlier we get the better prepared we can be.
Feel free to discuss online and also offline
We apologise for some lull in this space, stay safe and well
With Best regards
.For the PacNOG Coordinating Committee
