Dear All,
The IGC had on previous occasion supported EFF's objection to Encrypted Media Extensions. I had also sought calls for comments from the Pacific on the matter. I had published a statement on the same last year in June,
see: http://www.pasifikanexus.nu/development/dev-advocacy/
I have also been monitoring the area to see if there is continued work on the area.
The Chair, Paul Cotton (Microsoft) has called for comments on the Draft to be published. Andreas K had formally objected and the minority view is recorded by the Chairs of the WG in [1] and [2].The reasons that were provided in the following objections was not resolved.
Microsoft and Cable Labs expressly support the working draft.
The Chair has advised that the objection will be dealt with by the W3C Director at a future transition point for EME. The Chair further advised that objections are NOT dealt with and do not block the publication of heartbeats Working Drafts.

If there is interest in raising an objection from the Pacific, we can also do so jointly but we have to do this really fast. Simply send an email to sala@pasifikanexus.nu saying that you want to submit a joint formal objection so we are on record rather than whinging later. The modus operandi in the circle is silence is deemed as "acceptance" in the Working Group that is developing this.
Kind Regards, Sala

This is a Call for Consensus (CfC) to publish the following heartbeat [1] Working Draft of Encrypted Media Extensions (EME):
https://dvcs.w3.org/hg/html-media/raw-file/tip/encrypted-media/encrypted-med...
Silence will be taken to mean there is no objection, but positive responses are encouraged. If there are no objections by Tuesday February 11, this resolution will carry.
