Dear Community Members,
Following the AFRINIC 22 meeting in Tunisia, Africa, the proposals under
discussion during the Public Policy meeting on Wednesday, 3 June 2015
reached the following statuses:
One proposal reached consensus and moved to Last Call:
--------------------------------
- Resource Reservation for Internet Exchange Points
This policy aims to reserve IPv4 addresses for public Internet
Exchange Points (IXPs) in the AFRINIC service region, ensuring there
would be sufficient resources to allow the establishment and
growth of future IXPs. It is proposed that a /16 block be reserved
for IXP peering LANs, with an additional /16 block for IXP management
prefixes.
One proposal was returned to the mailing list:
--------------------------------
- Out-Of-Region Use of AFRINIC Internet Number Resources
This proposal would allow up to 40% of Internet number resources to
be used by a Member outside the AFRINIC service region. It also aims
to discourage organizations from other regions wanting to acquire
resources for use in ways that are not in line with AFRINIC’s
resource policies.
One proposal was withdrawn by author:
--------------------------------
- AFRINIC Service Guidelines
This proposal seeks to improve overall service quality and transparency
of AFRINIC’s Internet number resource services by documenting roles
and responsibilities of AFRINIC.
