Hi Andy,
I support this - let's just figure out what we need as a region on IPv6 allocation and leave it rather than continuing to play fairly meaningless games with shuffling bits around.
The benefit is that organisations will then be more likely to go and get an allocation rather than waiting in the hope they'd get more. Let's remove all the obstacles to IPv6 take up even if they're more things in people's heads.
I also support making sure we're not over complicating and over thinking the allocation problem with IPv6. The community appears to have an internal confusion regarding IPv6 allocation as we still are really, in our heads, thinking about IPv6 being a
scarce resource like IPv4.
Let's make it easy for ISPs and organisations to get enough space for their foreseeable future so that they can make good decisions about allocation strategies. This would mean the rather than having concepts like "reserving" space in prop-100 organisations
can just get space and use it rather than layering on complexity for something that should be pretty straightforward.
APNIC has members which require large amounts of space to efficiently deliver connectivity to some of the largest populations on Earth, then, well, let's let them get the IPv6 space they need in usefully large chunks to just go and do that and get out
of their way.
