Is Wifi too polite?

In Wifi networks, when a device sends a data packet, the receiving
device sends an acknowledgement back to the transmitter. This held true
in all the many devices tested in a recent series of tests.
This has several security implications. It may even mean the ability to
track people's movement, in some cases by measuring changes in signal
responses received.
