From an outside perspective it is easier for us in Australia to be content with the situation. We only have 20 odd million people (albeit a high % of those as active internet users), compared to larger countries in the region such as: - China â 1.3 billion - India â 1.2 billion - Indonesia â 248 million - Pakistan â 190 million - Japan â 127 million Those top 5 alone have 150x more people than Australian and it is difficult for us to know how truly represented the above countries are as especially in the top four above being emerging markets for the Internet â a large percentage of their populations arenât yet to take to the internet at the rate we do in Australia. This is a bit pie in the sky, but from experience it has been very easy for me to attend a Network Security & IPv6 training workshop conducted by APNIC in Brisbane â I am not sure the same would be feasible for someone living in Pakistan, China, etc? I think the next phase of this discussion as Tony suggested should be feedback provided to APNIC through the upcoming survey (and maybe if you want your voice heard publically â add your suggestions for improving APNIC to this list?). APNIC obviously need constructive feedback to be able to improve what they do today â especially to support emerging markets & countries. Greg From: apnic-talk-bounces at lists dot apnic dot net [mailto:apnic-talk-bounces at lists dot apnic dot net] On Behalf Of Skeeve Stevens A bit of advice to those who are interested in our community. If you profess an interest in Internet Governance you need to look to the interests of the regional as a whole, above and beyond your own local countries interests - or personal bias. This has to be said plainly. Those with nationalistic interests will never be taken seriously by the wider community. When you care about the region or globe as a whole, a put the needs of the many above the needs of the few, others will respect you and what you say will be heard a lot louder than if you are constantly saying 'me me me'. ...Skeeve Skeeve Stevens - eintellego Networks Pty Ltd skeeve at eintellegonetworks dot com ; www.eintellegonetworks.com Phone: 1300 239 038; Cell +61 (0)414 753 383 ; skype://skeeve facebook.com/eintellegonetworks ; linkedin.com/in/skeeve experts360: https://expert360.com/profile/d54a9 twitter.com/theispguy ; blog: www.theispguy.com The Experts Who The Experts Call Juniper - Cisco - Cloud - Consulting - IPv4 Brokering On Mon, Apr 28, 2014 at 11:41 PM, <haquehanif at hushmail dot com> wrote:
