POLICY DEVELOPMENTS - DISCUSSION PAPERS AVAILABLE
Discussion papers are available for most Special Interest Group (SIG)
topics. The SIGs, especially the Address Policy SIG are a forum for the
discussions which help to shape the future policy directions of APNIC. If
you have an interest in any of the topics to be discussed, please read the
discussion papers in advance. Details of the SIGs are available at:

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL NOMINATIONS CLOSE FRIDAY
The deadline for APNIC Executive Council nominations is this Friday 13
October. One position on the EC will be opened for election at the APNIC
Member Meeting on 27 October. Details of the nominations process, including
the nomination form and the current list of nominees is available at:

DON'T FORGET TO REGISTER
If you haven't already registered, please remember to do so soon. In
particular, make sure to register for any SIGs, tutuorials, or social events
you plan to attend, as we need to confirm numbers. Please note that

POWER ADAPTERS
A limited number of international power socket adapters will be available in
the terminal and meeting rooms, but to be on the safe side, it's a good idea
to bring your own. The Australian power supply is 240V, via a three pin

PROPOSALS FOR APNIC MEETING IN 2001
At the October Open Policy Meeting, APNIC will make a call for proposals
from organisations wishing to host the second APNIC meeting in the third
quarter of 2001 (the first meeting will be held in conjunction with
APRICOT2001 in Malaysia). If your organisation is interested in getting
involved, please consider raising your suggestion during the Member Meeting
on Friday 27 October.

APIA MEETING
The Asia Pacific Internet Association (APIA) will host a Birds of a Feather
(BOF) session entitled "Internet Self-Regulation: What You Need to Know
About Internet Regulations (But You May Not And This Is Probably Hurting
You)". The session will be presented by Peng Hwa Ang, a Fellow of the
Harvard Information Infrastructure Project, on Thursday 26 October from
6pm-8pm. Full details will be available on the APNIC meetings site in the
coming days.

PGP KEYSIGNING PARTY
This event is intended for users of PGP software, will provide an
opportunity to obtain or exchange signatures for keys, thus extending the
PGP 'Web-of-Trust'.
To attend this Bird-Of-a-Feather event, which is free of charge and open to
all comers, you will have to have a PGP (or compatible GnuPG) key and send
it in to <pgp at koerber dot org> by Wednesday 24 October 10:00 Brisbane time!
Also, you will have to bring personal identification (Passport) and a
printout of your key fingerprint) along with you.
