[apnic-announce] Transfer of memberships and resources
[Note "reply-to:" field]
Dear APNIC Member,
This notice is being sent to all APNIC members to remind you of the
procedures involved if an organisation wishes to transfer its APNIC
membership or address resources.
As we all know, the Internet industry in this region has been undergoing
substantial change in recent years. In particular, over the past year the
number of mergers, acquisitions, and business closures has increased.
In this context, it is important to remind all members that APNIC
memberships and Internet resources are not automatically transferable. In
particular, any transfer of IP Addresses and AS Numbers must be approved by
APNIC, before it can be registered, and without registration IP address
blocks cannot be fully recognised within the Internet infrastructure.
Therefore, if your organisation plans to alter its corporate structure (such
as by merger, acquisition, takeover, or sale) please contact APNIC to
discuss the status of your membership and address holdings, before
finalising any agreements.
A summary of APNIC's policies in this regard is provided at:
http://www.apnic.net/member/member-transfer.html
We also recommend that any third parties involved in transfer of company
assets (such as administrators, liquidators, receivers, or lawyers) should
be referred to this important information too.
Best regards
Paul Wilson
Director General
