Joint RIR Statement on ICANN Evolution and Reform
_________________________________________________
The combined boards of the three Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) –
APNIC, ARIN and RIPE NCC – have released a joint statement on the ICANN
evolution and reform process. APNIC’s Executive Council (EC) contributed to
the joint statement, the first of a two-part response from the RIRs to
ICANN's call for input.
The initial response enumerates a set of principles that the RIRs believe
should frame the interaction between ICANN and the RIRs. The second part of
the joint RIR response will focus on integrating these principles into a
more general comment about roles and relationships between ICANN and the
RIRs. The joint statement is available at:

A reminder too that the call for comment on the draft contract between the
RIRs and ICANN closes on Friday 31 May 2002. The draft contract, if
executed, would represent an agreement between the RIRs and ICANN on matters
of roles, responsibilities and procedures relating to Internet address
management and global address management policies. The draft document is
available at:
http://www.apnic.net/net_comm/icann/rir-contract-draft-20020409.pdf
Comments on the draft contract are invited by email to
<apnic-talk at lists dot apnic dot net> until Friday, 31 May 2002, 23:59 UTC.
Best regards,
