[apnic-announce] Filtering of hostmaster mailbox from 6 April 1999
[Note "reply-to:" field]
Dear members
To improve the way we process requests, APNIC will soon introduce filtering
of all email to the hostmaster mailbox, allowing only requests from current
members and paying customers. This will require a slight change in
procedure, but should increase the efficiency of our responses.
>From 6 April 1999, all email to the hostmaster mailbox will need to include
a valid account name in the subject line. Email without this information
will automatically be responded to with a message detailing the new
requirements.
Please note, your account name is not the same as the actual name of your
organisation. Account names are assigned by APNIC when applications are
processed and are of the format XXXXX-YY (where XXXXX is based on the name
of the member and YY is the country code). If you are unsure of your exact
account name, please contact <billing at apnic dot net>.
This filter will initially apply only to the hostmaster mailbox. General
enquiries may still be made to other APNIC mailboxes (see
<http://www.apnic.net/emails.html> for more details).
Many members already include this information in the subject line of their
email. For those of you who do not, we appreciate your cooperation in
amending your practice. If you have any questions or comments about this
issue, please feel free to contact us.
