Dear APNIC Community
Worldwide seems elections of all sorts are becoming more challenging.
I noticed this Google advertising above my search results for APNIC EC.
...................... APNIC EC Election 2022 - Better Internet Governance Ad·https://www.larus.net/ +852 2988 8918 Hoping for a better future for Internet Governance? Visit our website and get to know more about your top EC nominee. View Services. Read Blog. Chat Support Available. ......................
Curious, I clicked to find a campaign page promoting Lu Heng of Larus as a candidate for APNIC EC. https://www.larus.net/apnic-ec-election-2022
It's widely known that Lu Heng is involved in serious disputes with AFRINIC https://www.internetgovernance.org/2021/08/19/a-fight-over-crumbs-the-afrini... and has history of issues with ARIN https://www.arin.net/blog/2021/08/27/afrinic-and-the-stability-of-the-intern... .
A conflict of interest question, at least, arises if Lu Heng's campaign is successful since APNIC, and ARIN and other RIRs, are committed to supporting AFRINIC and the RIR system.
Search engine advertising for RIR elections, complete with slogans like "your top EC nominee"? Candidates involved with potentially destabilizing the RIR system and its community as prospective board members?
Does the APNIC community have the spirit, and policies, to cope with the sorts of pressures coming into the community election processes?
bless GKing
** with its elections coming, the AFRINIC community will be following your elections closely!
((Sincere apologies if I have posted to an inappropriate APNIC list - my concerns feel general and policy related))
Dear Subscribers,
As a reminder, please keep your postings focused on Internet number resource policy discussions inline with the Policy SIG charter.
"The Policy SIG charter is to develop policies which relate to the management and use of Internet number resources within the Asia Pacific region. These include policies for resource allocation, recovery and transfer, and for resource registration within whois, reverse DNS, RPKI and related services."
Regards, Sunny APNIC
