prop-050: IPv4 address transfers ________________________________________________________________________
Dear SIG members
Below is a summary of discussions on the proposal to date. We encourage you to continue discussions on the mailing list before APNIC 26.
Regards, Randy and Jian
Proposal summary ----------------
This is a proposal to remove APNIC policy restrictions on transferring registration of IPv4 addresses between current APNIC account holders. The first version of this proposal was presented at APNIC 24, where the author did not seek consensus. At APNIC 25, the author was asked to continue refining the proposal.
Version three of the proposal includes a summary of discussions to date from the APNIC, ARIN, and RIPE communities about liberalizing IPv4 address transfers.
Proposals for address transfers are also currently being discussed in the following RIR communities:
RIPE 2007-08: Enabling methods for reallocation of IPv4 resources
ARIN 2008-2: IPv4 transfer policy proposal
Discussion statistics ---------------------
Version 3 posted to Policy SIG mailing list: 22 July 2008
Number of posts: 3
Number of people participating in discussions: 2
Summary of discussions ----------------------
- It was clarified that the proposed policy would apply to all address space administered by APNIC and held by a current APNIC account holder. This includes historical address space transferred to a current account holder under the current "Policies for the transfer of historical Internet resources" but excludes historical address space held by organisations that are not current account holders of APNIC.
Full details of this proposal, including links to previous discussions of it at earlier APNIC meetings, can be found at:
