Dear colleagues
The eight-week final comment period for the proposal 'Format for delegation and recording of 4-byte AS numbers' has now ended.
This APNIC proposal has prompted the submission of an Internet Draft to the IETF. This proposed standards document is now in the final stages of IETF review and we hope that it will be published before the end of 2008 as a Proposed Standard RFC. The IETF document status can be found at:
http://tools.ietf.org/wg/idr/draft-ietf-idr-as-representation
Because of this, after consulting the mailing list, the Policy SIG Chairs have decided to defer forwarding the APNIC proposal to the APNIC EC for endorsement until the IETF and RFC Editor processes have completed. However, if, after a period of two months, an RFC has not been published, we will ask the APNIC EC to endorse the proposal.
For a detailed history of this proposal see:
http://www.apnic.net/policy/proposals/prop-065-v001.html
Regards APNIC Policy SIG Chairs Randy Bush Jian Zhang
FYI, RFC5396 has just been published.

Hi Philip,
Thank you for informing the publication of RFC5395, 'Textual Representation of Autonomous System (AS) Numbers'.
This RFC states as below.
"The decimal value representation, or "asplain" is proposed as the textual notation to use for AS numbers."
I'm not sure the 'asplain' notation is decided or not. Is it yet the 'proposed' status? (Yes, that RFC is 'Proposed Standard':-))
