Could someone try to connect to some web/e-mail/whatever servers from a properly advertised 1.x.y.z address and see to what extent it works?
Generally you have an issue of volume, ie getting enough people to try to connect to that web/whatever server.
One idea I thought about was to use the 'zero byte image with java' approach to load a "test" into people's browsers which makes that web attempt to a 1/8 address and reports the findings via a subsequent 'get' to a known accessible site.
for example have google, or youtube, twitter, facebook host some javascript that does the above in a similar way to the yahoo dns testing:

(I won't insult you by posting some really bad java script that I just wrote that does this)
Be warned that there are some privacy issues around this, no more than what you naturally see in log files.. but any more logging than the bare minimum appears to irritate.
