Dear NIR SIG Colleagues,
I'd like to share some updates on contributions for the IANA Stewarship Transition proposal, with CRISP Team Chair hat as well as an NIR in Japan.
As you may be aware, public comment is open for the IANA Stewarship Transition proposal by the IANA Stewardship Transition Coordination Group (ICG). https://www.ianacg.org/calls-for-input/combined-proposal-public-comment-peri...
You can see the overview of the proposal at: https://www.ianacg.org/icg-files/documents/XPL-ICAN_1510_ICG_Report_Visual_S...
The ICG says: It is critical that the ICG build a public record that reflects broad community support for the proposal and justifies the proposal's conformance with the NTIA criteria before the proposal can be submitted to NTIA. Thus, commenters are encouraged to file comments in support of the proposal even if they have no concerns to express about the proposal.
Please feel free to let me know on the list, or indivisually off-line, if you have any questions about the stewardship transition or contributions.
I'm looking forward to see you soon at APNIC40.
Overview of contributions from the number resources community: ---------------------------------------------------------------
Call for comment through NRO: https://www.nro.net/news/iana-stewardship-transition-coordination-group-icg-...
Contribution from the CRISP Team: Attached is the draft response from the CRISP Team for your reference. Words in bold letters cover a general observation which could be applicable to anyone in the Number Community.
Contributions from Japan: JPNIC is planning to submit our own comment to the ICG. There is community initiative to submit a response as the Japanese Internet Community, using Internet Governance Coference Japan (IGCJ) platform. It is lead by Toshio Tachibana and Akinori Maemura. You can see the draft under preparation at: http://igcj.jp/news/2015/0824.html
How you can contribute: -----------------------
You can contribute as NIRs to the process in three ways.
1. Submit your own comment to the ICG It is not a requirement to respond to all questions from the ICG. Please feel free to reference the CRISP response in considering contents for your own submission.
Deadline of the submission: 8 September 2015 at 23:59 UTC For details see: https://www.ianacg.org/calls-for-input/combined-proposal-public-comment-peri...
2. Help spread the word within your economies NIRs are in a good position to reach out to the community within your economies, to encourage others to submit comments to the ICG.
3. Express support to the CRISP Team response to the ICG Support expressed by e-mail to ianaxfer@nro.net before 7 September 2015 23:59 UTC will be recorded as the level of support from the Number Community to the CRISP Team response.
Best Regards, Izumi
