Whoever is handling DNS for you, needs to add in a PTR record for the IP address of your server.
Check with your ISP to see if they created a PTR record for your mail server also to fix that problem with reverse DNS failure,

I am trying resolving a problem with our local mail @mlpid.gov.ki. We host it locally with our public ip address but the problem we can not receive mails, we can only sent mail but there is a problem in receiving it.
I tested it with http://www.mxtoolbox.com and it gave me 550 connection refused, mentioned about reverse DNS failed!
Is this a real cause of the problem, am I going to ask my isp or problem with my mail software. I am using MDaemon
Thank you in advance
