Hi all,
Just a reminder from the 8 November 2010 the APNIC Whois Database will be updated to contain new 'irt' objects.
What does this mean?
* That when there are incidents of network abuse network operators will be able to report these activities to the contact registered within the irt (Incidence Response Team) object.
* The 'irt' object will become mandatory, and referenced within inetnum, inet6num and aut-num objects
For more information please refer to:

Could someone at Connect update the whois data for their IP space?
It still list Alfred as contact, and Alfred has not been there for 2 years now...
While I stumbled on this one while reporting SPAM (yes it seems spam is on the rise in Fiji, coming now from Fiji based Businesses), I would suggest other ISPs to check their whois data at APNIC and add an abuse field.

Is it possible to get the IRT object copied from eg the RIPE database?
After discussion it is possible to use the same information registered within your IRT object in the RIPE database for a majority of the attributes within the IRT object. However the difference will be for the admin-c and tech-c attributes, as they will need to reference a NIC-handle of a contact registered within the APNIC whois database. The source attribute will also contain APNIC.
I hope this information has been of some assistance.
Kind regards, Elly APNIC
