Dear Pacific Community,
Please join me in congratulating Phillip Smith in case you have''nt heard the news yet.
Congratulations Phillip Smith on being inducted to the "Internet Hall of Fame". He was one of the engineers who following drinks with mates in a pub from a different ISP created the first London IXP in 1994. In 2012, Phillip was my go to guy for anything to do with IXPs alongside Bill Woodcock and Bevil M. Wooding from Packet Clearing House (PCH) which led to Pasifika Nexus's IXP Executive Briefing https://www.pasifikanexus.nu/2012/12/11/ixp-executive-briefing/ which was kindly sponsored by APNIC. This down to earth giant is an absolute star and a blessing to the World through his enormous contributions to the different Network Operator Groups around the World.
Whilst I was still with a Telco in Fiji, Phillip would give up his time to teach and brief our corporate executives and middle management back then and the magnitude of the work he does to build and train network engineers is unparalleled.
Thank you for all you do for community support and building Phillip! We congratulate you on your journey and thank you for everything you do.
Celebrating with you, Sala

Happy New Year, everyone, and I hope that 2022 will see a big improvement in all our situations given the global pandemic.
And thank you so much, Sala, it's very kind and generous of you to share the news across the Pacific Community.
And thanks everyone for the good wishes that you have sent privately and on-list. It was quite a shock to find out the news from the Internet Society, and very humbling too. I'm just glad I've had the opportunity to help some of the wonderful folks and the network infrastructure in the Pacific achieve better things. It truly has been a privilege. The progress we've seen in the last 20 years has been incredible, and I hope it continues. :-)
Best wishes,
